Dobri DobrevDobri DobrevDobri Dobrev

He came to me three days ago. As I was minding my own little business, while wondering on the Internet, as I usually do. From nowhere,  he just appeared in front of me. On my screen. Just like that. When I saw his image, I immediately started to cry. I don’t know why. I have never heard of this man before, nor did I ever see his face. Needless to say, it felt like I had known this person already. His image made me emotional right away. So I let my tears come out, while “Feeling” his beautiful colors. Strangely enough, the tears, I cried because of him, felt beautiful. His soul is beautifully breathtaking.

He came to me, but I didn’t know the reason. Then, I knew. I had to paint Him. “For godsakes, how?!” I asked myself, struck by his beautiful colors. I couldn’t stop thinking of him, I just couldn’t. Then I decided to read something about him, and found out that this man begged for money and gave it all to churches and orphanages. Right there. The word, orphanages, that is why He came to me.

The Internet says..."This old man begged every day and gave it all away to Churches and orphanages. Dobri Dobrev, from Bulgaria, came off as a haggard beggar who depended on the kindness of strangers to get by in life. He lost most of his hearing in the Second World War, travelled 25 kilometers every day for decades from his village in his homemade clothes and leather shoes to the city of Sofia, a daily trip he made by foot, where he spent the day begging for money."
